We're delighted to inform you that the New York City Council will be holding a special ceremony to recognize the work of Talk Therapy TV and pay tribute to Behavioral Health Recognition Month.  We would like to thank Council Member Daniel Dromm, Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, and the other members of the City Council for leading the way on recognizing the importance of behavioral health awareness, treatment, and recovery and the urgency of increasing knowledge and understanding of this public health challenge.

This winter, Queens Public Television (QPTV) launched their first ever Community Viewers Choice Competition and asked the viewers to vote for their favorite shows.  Our wonderful viewers spoke strongly registering an astounding 1,378 votes on behalf of Talk Therapy TV to give us the second place award.

Thanks to all those that voted for us.  We are inspired and motivated to continue producing and broadcasting high quality behavioral health programming.

The National Association of Social Workers awarded the Talk Therapy TV show an NASW Media Award for best portrayal of social workers on TV.  The award was earned after hundreds voted online and overwhelmingly chose Talk Therapy TV for it's outstanding work in raising public awareness and understanding of mental illnesses and addictions.  Thanks to all of our wonderful viewers whose feedback and votes made this possible.

As we prepare to celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year, we reflect back on our many accomplishments and blessings of this past year.
  • Partnered with SAMHSA in promotion of the Voice Awards
  • Became a Planning Partner for SAMHSA's National Recovery Month
  • Inspired the New York State Senate and Assembly to jointly proclaim October as Behavioral Health Recognition Month
  • Presented the first ever Behavioral Health Recognition Month Celebration at the Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum with distinguished speakers, music, workshops, and exhibitors
  • Achieved more than 100,000 unique Google verified visitors to our information packed website
  • Developed and broadcast 110 hours of original behavioral health public access television programming
  • Launched a YouTube Channel with more than 90 YouTube optimized videos, 800 subscribers, and 35,000 video views
  • Expanded the Mental Health Quick Facts campaign to twenty grocery stores, distributing over 5 million receipts in 2011
  • Added additional public access TV stations, expanding our broadcast reach to a total of 1.6 million households
  • Participated in the White House Forum on Community Needs on behalf of the mental health community
  • Became partner in the HHS National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities

Starting in January 2012, Talk Therapy TV will be broadcasting on Queens Public Television (QPTV) in new and improved time slots.  We will be airing every Thursday at 7:00 PM on Channel 35 (Prime Time) with a rerun on Friday at 4:00 PM on Channel 35.

We'll be starting of the year with a special series of speakers and performers from the 2011 Behavioral Health Recognition Month Celebration so be sure to tune in.
