Prior to his current position as Director of the Carter Center Mental Health Program, Dr. Bornemann held multiple leadership roles in the mental health field including senior adviser on mental health to the World Health Organization (WHO), deputy director of the U.S. Federal Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), and Assistant Surgeon General of the United States.
